As the seasons begin to change, there's no better time to get outdoors and explore the local landscapes! To help you explore, the Ranger team at Northam Burrows are running a series of Guided Walks throughout October and November giving you the chance to get some fresh air, enjoy the local landscape, and discover the seasonal wildlife.

 

The 'Scenic Stroll' sessions are a shorter amble which is ideal for those wanting to just enjoy the fresh air and some friendly company. On the other hand, the 'Explore' sessions are more of a hike where you'll be able to learn something new!

 

The dates for the guided walks are:

Thursday 1st October, 3pm - 4pm: Meet at Westward Ho! Slipway for a Scenic Stroll along the beach looking for shipwrecks.

Monday 19th October, 2pm - 4pm: Meet at Northam Burrows Visitor Centre for our Explore WWII History walk with local expert Dave Edgcombe.

Thursday 12th November, 3pm - 4pm: Meet at the Northam Burrows Visitor Centre for a Scenic Stroll to find out how the Rangers manage the site for both people and wildlife!

Sunday 22nd November, 2pm - 4pm: Meet at Greysands Car Park for our Explore Winter Birds session where the Rangers will be joined by local expert Martin Unwin. A pop-up Bird Hide and Binoculars, Telescopes and ID Guides will be available to use and share!

Torridge is home to a variety of beautiful landscapes and Northam Burrows' expert-led sessions are a great way to get some fresh air, discover seasonal wildlife and learn more about the features of our local area.''
