The Eagle

The Eagle is our parish's monthly newsletter.  The first issue of The Eagle was May 1984.  This means the newsletter celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024, something that the current editing team and parish as a whole is incredibly proud of.  The Eagle editorial team have produced an information leaflet with a brief history and advert rates.

It keeps the whole community up-to-date on the goings on in the parish, with regular contributions from the Parish CouncilSt Andrew's Church parochial church council, the Village Hall committee and advertising events.   Useful contact information is included, together with villager articles on gardening, holidays and quizzes.

Local businesses are encouraged to advertise in The Eagle to the benefit of all residents.  Anyone is welcome to receive a copy of the newsletter with a contribution of at least £5.00 per annum which covers printing and distribution.  Residents can either forward monies by cash or now online.  With this residents can include items in the newsletter by sending an email to yarnscombe.eagle@gmail.com.  The Eagle is distributed by the editorial team and the local postman to around 2/3rd of the residences in the parish, together with a copy of The Crier, which is the Torrington and district town community newsletter.

The team is in the process of digitising some of the older copies of the The Eagle.  When the digital library is complete you will be guided from this page to the separate website. Keep an eye on this page for updates on how this is progressing.
